What PASWI Is All About

The Philippine Association of Social Workers (PASW) was founded on November 12, 1947, and incorporated on April 18, 1948. It was re-incorporated with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on October 18, 1988, changing its name to Philippine Association of Social Workers, Incorporates (PASWI).

PASWI is the only professional organization of social workers accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). it is a member of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), and a charter member of the Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC).

NOMINATION FOR OSWP:

 

Outstanding Social Workers of the Philippines award shall be centered upon a Social Worker in direct practice from LGU, NGOs, PO, GO, SWD intermediaries, and or other social work sectoral organizations who has distinctive contribution to the achievement of his or her agency’s/organization’s vision/mission and advancement of the Social Work Profession in the field practice of Social Work but not limited to the following:

*Field Setting:

-Health and Medical                -Courts                          -School (Academe/Community Outreach)

-Industry                              -Local Government           -Non-government organization

-People's organization            -International Practice       -Industry Development/Labor

-Correctional & Reformatory    -Other similar field settings

  **Field Setting:

-Child Welfare                        -Elderly                               -Women's welfare

-Disabled                               -Family and Community         -Community Development

-Disaster Management             -Other similar field settings

Criteria:_____________________________________________________________________________

A. Must be a Registered Social Worker with updated PRC License.

B. With updated PASWI Membership

C. With Outstanding/Significant Contributions/Achievements in the field being nominated for as evidence of the following:

  1. Narrative accomplishment and justification by the immediate supervisor endorsed by the chapter and or sectoral organization.

  2. If available, Copy of awards/Commendations/Recognitions received

  3. Certificate of no-pending cases to the administrator where he/she is in.

 

D. Certification of Moral Integrity

Requirements:

Certification of good moral character and integrity from the agency head and co-workers, that nominee had never been convicted in any administrative charge or corruption in the line of duty/work, and conduct unbecoming of a social worker

 

MECHANICS OF IMPLEMENTATION:

A.       Period Covered:

* The period covered for the award shall be one year from the day of the awarding ceremony.

* Outstanding social workers that were selected at the National level will be awarded during the Biennial and Regional conferences.

 B.       Who may nominate

The nominations may come from the PASWI Local Chapter, and or various sectoral organizations.

 C.       The Selection Committees

Awards and selection committee shall be created at the national levels by the Board of Jurors to administer the process of selection. It shall compose of the Heads of Different Fields of Practice or any authorized representative of the said organization or any related organization or distinguished social worker awardees.

 

D.       The Selection Procedures

  1. Nominees shall be recommended or endorsed by Agency Head/Supervisor to be further endorsed by PASWI Chapters and or sectoral organizations nearest its locality.

  2. The PASWI Local Chapters and or sectoral organizations shall screen nominees. In the absence of a Chapter and or sectoral organizations nearest its locality, the names and papers of the nominees can be submitted to the Chapter and or sectoral organizations nearest its locality.

  3. There shall be only one (1) nominee per Chapter and or sectoral organization /per category to be submitted for final screening by the Awards Committee-PASWI National Office based on the criteria set duly supported by documents and must submit on or before AUGUST 20, 2018.

  4. The National PASWI Awards Committee shall make validation of accomplishment.

  5. The National Awards Committee shall select candidates from the nominees submitted by the Chapters and or sectoral organizations.

  6. PASWI shall notify the national winners indicating the detail of the awarding ceremonies. 

 

E.      Elevation to the Hall of Fame

An individual, group, or organization who or which has been a recipient of the same award for three (3) times shall be elevated to the Hall of Fame and will no longer be qualified for nomination.

 

F.       Criteria for Selection

  • Registered Social Worker with updated PRC License (submit copy of PRC License)

  •  Outstanding / Significant contributions/achievements in the field being nominated for with proper documentation.

  • Recommendations from co-social workers, immediate supervisor and the Nominating Group or Network.

  • Certification of good moral character and integrity from the agency head and co-workers.

  • NBI clearance and/ or Ombudsman.

  • Four (4) pieces of 2x2 picture.

  • SUBMIT nomination by e-mail : paswiconvention@gmail.com or at PASWI Secretariat Office located at Room 100 C-D, PSSC Bdlg. Commonwealth Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City with complete requirements on or before AUGUST 20, 2018
